Bauhaus 100: Modesto is the Modesto Art Museum’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus School of Design. Founded in Germany 1 April 1919, the school influenced architecture, product design, dance, graphic arts, textiles, and many other forms of art and design world-wide including Modesto. Modesto’s 1960 courthouse was designed by Mitchell Van Bourg, a graduate student of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius at Harvard in the 1940s.
